The letter

One letter a week, in your inbox.

The signal of the week, what shipped, what to try, and the editor's note. No tracking, no ads, nothing else.

We keep your address, your language and the date you joined, nothing else. Every letter has a one-click unsubscribe link that deletes the record.

Hakken (発見) is a magazine, a radar and a diary about design and branding, kept from Tokyo for readers everywhere.

A magazine, because every week has a signal worth reading slowly. A radar, because we count what the world's studios are talking about — typography, materials, heritage, colour — and show it as it moves. A diary, because a seal is set each day in that day's colour, and the days add up.

We do not aim to be complete. We aim to notice: the small finding, the quiet exhibition in Kyoto, the idea from a Copenhagen studio that would work in Osaka. Everything here links back to the people who made it; the images belong to their authors.

Hakken will keep changing. New sources, new signals, new ways of looking — a little better each week, never finished. If something here helped you see, that is enough.

Thank you for reading.
